Ask me where I’m from and the honest answer is: elsewhere, mostly.
I grew up in Korea, but for most of my adult life my address has been somewhere else — Germany, Switzerland, the United States, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Malaysia, and now Canada. In between, I’ve visited more than forty countries across Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas: some just passing through, some for a weekend or a holiday, and some for long enough to have a regular bakery.
Why the name
When you move every couple of years, “home” stops being one place. You keep a little of each city you’ve lived in, and part of you is always somewhere else. This site is a record of that: the places, the small practical things I wish someone had told me before I booked, and the moments that stayed longer than the trip itself.
What you’ll find here
Notes from places I’ve actually been, written from my own experience. Where I include current information — opening hours, prices, booking rules — I say when I last checked it, because these things change.
How I write
- I only write about places I’ve visited and services I’ve used myself.
- I separate what I experienced from what I’ve looked up, and I date the latter.
- I use AI tools to help organise notes and draft translations; every post is checked and edited by me before it goes up.
- I keep my family out of the photos and the text.
